THE METHOD
How it started
Even though I had already been in fashion for 18 years at the time, it was my autism and giftedness diagnosis that made me reframe my method. I realised that what you wear could make you feel good, fit comfortably into your day, and represent who you are, all at the same time, and without costing you any additional energy. In other words, an outfit can align with you in three ways: Sensory, Ritual, and Identity.
Traditional style advice tends to address only one of these aspects at a time, and I believe an outfit can do all three, so I developed my own approach based on my fashion expertise: the UNMASK—your style method. What you wear can change your thoughts, feelings, and actions, as explained by enclothed cognition, so your outfit choices matter beyond their looks because they can shape your day and support you.

How it feels: Sensory
Many factors can influence how clothes feel. Fabric is usually the first thing that comes to mind because it has texture, weight, and movement. It can also vary in breathability, strength, elasticity, anti-static properties, etc.
Construction plays a big part too, and it depends not only on the garment but also on how your body and your proportions interact with it. Colour and print also matter because they add to your outfit's sensory load.
When any of these elements cause discomfort, they quietly start draining your energy. -

How you get dressed: Ritual
For some people, choosing outfits can be exhausting, so they wear the same items or formula on repeat, without much thought. However, that uniform can be improved to move from something generic to something that works specifically for them, while also considering their Sensory and Identity needs and reducing decision fatigue.
For others, Ritual isn't about a formula; it’s a grounding routine. Their getting-ready process becomes a moment of self-validation and self-regulation that needs to fit into their day. Also, to get dressed, you need to care for your clothes, so how you organise and look after your wardrobe is part of Ritual too.

How it’s you: Identity
Clothes are an extension of who you are, because you live your life in them. That’s why it feels good to wear something that you connect with, and that lets you express who you are, how you are feeling, and what you like and care about.
It’s also often overlooked how clothing can be used as a form of social camouflaging; that is, wearing a costume to blend in at the expense of your well-being. Following trends or copying outfits can seem harmless, but your style is deeply linked to a sense of belonging and acceptance, so hiding who you are can affect your self-esteem and self-worth.
Dressing like yourself goes beyond aesthetics and lets you experience the world from your point of view, validating who you are without trying to perform a different identity or people-please.
How they align
With all of this in mind, the goal is to create outfits that are physically comfortable, fit easily into your routine, and represent you. When what you wear aligns with your sensory needs, your getting-ready ritual, and your identity, it becomes an aligned outfit because it’s aligned to work for you on all three levels.
Since this means something different for everyone, there’s no unique formula to copy, but a method that guides my style and image services. While each service focuses on a different discipline (fashion styling, image coaching, and image consulting), it also has touches of the others throughout.
